Dear M, a Kdrama with a 9.5 rating on Viki from over 70,000 users is likely a title that has been recommended to you. If you’re looking for an overview and why you should or shouldn’t binge-watch it, this detailed review on Dear M is for you.
What is Dear M About?
Dear M is a show about the lives of a group of university students, delving into their personal struggles and romantic entanglements.
The drama starts with a mysterious Mr. M who puts up an anonymous post stating they have a crush on someone in their “Photography and Appreciation” class. Throughout the series, the students try to uncover who this mysterious Mr. M is, casting suspicion on one another.

Among them, the hopeless romantics (so relatable!) find themselves entertaining the whimsical notion that Dear M might indeed be their secret crush, convinced that the anonymous post is actually a confession directed at them.

The drama is shot on a university campus, capturing scenes predominantly within classrooms and dormitories, evoking a sense of nostalgia comparable to our own university experiences. We’re confident it will ignite similar sentiments within you.
There’s an interesting love triangle involved as well (not revealing any spoilers here). You can say it has some similarities to Shakespeare’s show Twelfth Night or the American movie “She’s the Man”. One character likes the other, who in turn likes someone else. However, this love triangle isn’t as tangled as the Shakespeare show.
Cast
The show features Park Hye Soo, Jeong Jae-hyun, Noh Jung Ui, and Bae Hyeon Seong. All of these are rising stars and not that famous (yet). Noh Jung Ui, known for her role in the kdrama “Our Beloved Summer,” might be the most recognizable face among them.

Personally, the sole reason I loved this show was that it reminded me of my university days. I lived in a dorm and worked part-time. Cha Min-ho’s character and dorm life portrayed in this show were so relatable 💯.
